Restomotive x Wilwood: Rear Axle Braking Engineering

The Foundation: Wilwood Forged Dynalite & SRP Performance

The core of our rear axle kits consists of Wilwood components, which have been setting the standards in motorsport and professional tuning for decades:

  • Forged Dynalite Calipers (4-piston): High-rigidity forged calipers that provide precise modulation and massive clamping force. Their design eliminates the “spongy pedal” effect, even under extreme thermal loads.

  • SRP Performance Rotors: Two-piece, drilled and slotted rotors with an aluminum hat. This construction drastically reduces unsprung mass and allows for free thermal expansion of the rotor, preventing deformation and brake judder.

Restomotive’s Proprietary Solution: T651 Aluminum Adapters

Even the best caliper requires a perfect mount. At Restomotive, we design and manufacture dedicated bracket adapters that serve as a bridge between modern Wilwood technology and the architecture of classic Ford axles.

What sets our adapters apart?

  • T651 Aerospace Material: We utilize a certified aluminum alloy with the highest fatigue strength. This guarantees safety where the most extreme dynamic loads occur during braking.

  • CAD Precision: Through digital design, we achieve perfect alignment of the caliper relative to the rotor. This eliminates uneven pad wear and ensures 100% system efficiency.

  • Weight Reduction: Our adapters are significantly lighter than their steel counterparts, which directly improves suspension performance on the rear axle.

 

 

Compatibility: “Small Ford” Standard

Our solution was developed specifically for the popular “Small Ford” housing flange. It is a “Bolt-on” solution for a wide range of classic Ford models (Mustang, Falcon, Torino) equipped with 8-inch and 9-inch rear ends.
